Good things happen to those who give. I am super excited to get a feature in the Winter/Spring 2018 issue of Elegant Wedding Magazine that hit news stands a few weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when I got an email letting me know I’ve been featured in the blog as well!!
Caroline and Alen’s wedding was an event I was hired for last minute. Like, I’m saying 3 weeks before her wedding kinda last minute! I got an email from makeup artist extraordinaire Dawna Boot, asking if I’m available to help out this Bride. The situation was that the Bride had hired another beauty company and had 3 separate trials with 3 separate artists, but none of them executed the look she wanted. Luckily, I was available for this lovely Bride.
Because she had already spend so much money on trials, and I knew how frustrated and worried she was about her hair, I gave her a complimentary trial (value of $250) and spent 2 hours with her going over some looks. We chatted about what she wanted and didn’t want. It turned out that she needed hair extensions for her desired look which we quickly purchased and I prepped them ready for her wedding day.
Now, my intention is not to shame other companies or the bride, and I think what happened was more so a lack of consultation and communication rather than lack of talent, but that’s another post.
I always go with my gut when doing nice things. And even though I didn’t financially earn from her trial, I really felt like something good would come out of it. So having this double feature feels really really REALLY good!!! And I feel confident that more things will come out of it.
